ASTON, Pa. - The Neumann University baseball team defeated Albright College 10-3 in its home opener on Wednesday afternoon.
Eric Bergman had four hits and batted in two runs.
Cody MacNair homered, batted in two runs and scored three. Six Knights had a multi-hit game.
Patrick Graham started the game and pitched 5.1 innings, giving up three runs, two earned, on six hits and struck out four.
Chris Rupprecht closed out the sixth inning.
Grant Wallace pitched two innings, giving up a hit and striking out two.
Jerome Cevetello pitched the ninth and struck out two.
The Knights took an early lead with two runs in the bottom of the first.
Chuck Trentler tripled to right center and scored on a sacrifice fly by
Joey Pedorenko. With two outs, MacNair hit a bomb to left field to give Neumann a 2-0 advantage.
Bergman led off the fourth inning with a single to left center, and later advanced to second on a wild pitch. A sacrifice bunt by
Curt Yenchik advanced Bergman to third.
Spencer Young singled on a bunt and Bergman crossed the plate to increase Neumann's lead to three. The Knights added two more runs in the fifth, one on a wild pitch to score MacNair and the other on a single by Yenchik.
Albright gained momentum and plated three runs in the sixth, but Neumann answered back and scored two of their own.
Sam Banks scored on a throwing error, and MacNair singled to score
AJ Koscelansky and give the Knights a 7-3 lead.
Neumann added another run in the seventh and two in the eighth. Trentler singled to score
Jonathan DelValle, and Bergman doubled to plate MacNair and Koscelansky and give the Knights a seven run lead.
Neumann (4-7) will travel to Washington College on Friday. First pitch is slated for 3:00 PM.
