GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. – The Neumann University baseball team dropped a pair of Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) games at Gwynedd Mercy University on Thursday afternoon. The Griffins took the games by scores of 11-8 and 8-1.

In game one, Zach Cooney started the game and went 2.2 innings. He allowed eight runs, five earned, on six hits. Kevin Giffin finished the third inning. Chris Rupprecht went 3.0 innings and allowed three runs on five hits.

Neumann put a run on the board in each of the first three innings. However, Gwynedd Mercy hit a three-run homerun in the home half of the first inning, plated two unearned runs in the second and hit another three-run bomb in the third for an 8-3 lead after three innings.

In the fourth inning, the Knights were able to capitalize on a couple Griffin errors to score three unearned runs in the inning. Gwynedd Mercy got one run back in the bottom half. The teams would continue to trade runs to the seventh inning. Neumann scored one run in the top of the seventh, but could not overcome the deficit.

In game two, Grant Wallace started the game on the mound and went 4.1 innings. He allowed six runs on five hits and struck out two. Kutter Endy went 1.2 innings and allowed two runs on three hits.

The Knights would tie the score at one in the top of the fourth. Eric Bergman led off with a triple and came around to score on a single by Kyle Weller.

The Griffins then broke the game open with a two-run homerun in the bottom of the fourth as they regained the lead. GMU added three more runs on a homerun in the fifth and then sealed the win with two runs in the sixth.
