ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University baseball team defeated Immaculata University 8-5 on Friday afternoon in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action.
AJ Koscelansky had three hits, including a homerun, batted in two runs and scored two.
Chuck Trentler had two hits, one a two-run homerun.
Cody MacNair also had two hits, batted in a run and scored a run.
Duncan Balara hit a three-run triple.
Kristian DeLuzio started on the mound and pitched 7.0 innings to pick up his fourth win. He allowed five runs, three earned, on 10 hits and struck out one.
Zach Youngberg pitched a scoreless eighth inning.
Anthony Stricker closed in the ninth and struck out the side to earn his fifth save.
MacNair put Neumann on the board in the first with a single to center to score Trentler. The Mighty Macs got a run back in the second and scored a pair of unearned runs in the third to take a 3-1 lead.
The Knights sent nine men to the plate and rallied for six runs in the fourth. MacNair led off the inning with a single to center and
Curt Yenchik followed with a walk. Koscelansky singled to left to score MacNair and advance Yenchik to second. Koscelansky and Yenchik advanced to second and third on a sacrifice by
Joey Pedorenko.
Jonathan DelValle walked to load the bases. Balara cleared the bases with a triple down the right field line to give Neumann a 5-3 advantage. Trentler added to the lead with a 2-run homerun to right center.
Immaculata cut into Neumann's lead with two runs in the fifth to make it 7-5. Koscelansky homered in the eighth to secure the 8-5 win for the Knights.
Neumann (13-12, 6-2 CSAC) will travel to Immaculata for a pair of games on Saturday. First pitch is slated for 12:00 PM.
