ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's lacrosse team defeated Gwynedd Mercy University 17-3 on Thursday evening in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action.
Rebecca Dolenti led the Knights with four goals.
Jordan Hopkins scored three goals, had four assists and won 10 draw controls.
Shae Risley and
Taylor Klever also scored three goals.
Diana Caicedo netted two goals.
Alexa McIntyre picked up seven ground balls.
Becca Wallace started in net.
The Knights started off the scoring just 30 seconds into the first half with a goal by
Kaitlyn Conrad as the Knights scored the first nine goals of the game. Dolenti, Risley and Klever added goals in the first 10 minutes of the first half to give Neumann a 4-0 lead. Hopkins netted a goal and Dolenti added two in the next 10 minutes to increase the Knights' lead to seven.
With Neumann leading 9-0, the Griffins got on the board with 5:46 left to play in the first half. The Knights finished out the first half with four additional goals, two by Caicedo, to take a 13-1 lead into halftime.
Erin Meehan started off the second half with a goal. The Griffins decreased their deficit with two straight goals to make it 14-3. Risley, Hopkins and Dolenti each added a goal to finish out the second half and give Neumann the 17-3 victory.
Neumann (10-4, 7-1 CSAC) will host Notre Dame of Maryland University on Saturday to wrap up conference action. Saturday is also senior day for the Knights. Action gets underway at 2:00 PM.
