ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University baseball team will be the No. 3 seed in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) playoffs, starting on Thursday afternoon.
Keystone is the No. 1 seed after finishing conference play 15-3. Immaculata and Neumann each went 11-7 in CSAC action, but the Mighty Macs earned the No. 2 seed as they took the season series with the Knights 2-1. Gwynedd Mercy will be the No. 4 seed as it went 10-8 in conference play.
The Knights will face the Mighty Macs in a first round game on Thursday afternoon at 3:00 PM. Keystone will host Gwynedd Mercy in the other first round game. Semifinals will begin at 10:30 AM on Friday with Keystone hosting.
This is the eighth straight season Neumann has qualified for the postseason under Head Coach
John Fleming. The Knights finished as the runner-up last season and will look to bring home their first championship.
Neumann went 0-3 against Keystone this season. The two teams wrapped up the regular season just last weekend.
Chuck Trentler had three doubles in the three-game series. CSAC Player of the Year
Cody MacNair hit two homeruns and finished with five RBI.
Curt Yenchik also knocked two shots out of the park and knocked in five runs.
The Knights are 1-2 against the Mighty Macs in 2016. Neumann defeated Immaculata 8-5 at home before dropping the doubleheader on the road.
Kristian DeLuzio picked up the win at home on the mound.
Eric Bergman had six hits.
Duncan Balara had two doubles. Trentler, MacNair and
AJ Koscelansky each hit a homerun.
Against Gwynedd Mercy, Neumann went 1-2, again coming away with its win at home. DeLuzio got the win, going 7.2 innings. Bergman and MacNair each had three hits in the series.
After the first round games on Thursday, the teams travel north for the semifinals and championship games.
