ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's lacrosse team defeated Marywood University 20-9 in a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) semifinal game on Wednesday evening.
The Knights, the No. 2 seed, will advance to the CSAC Championship at No. 1 seeded Cabrini College on Saturday afternoon.
Jordan Hopkins scored seven goals for the Knights and picked up 14 draw controls.
Diana Caicedo tallied six goals.
Kaitlyn Conrad and
Shae Risley each added three goals.
Alexa McIntyre had a goal and an assist.
Sirelle Torres and
Danni Hall each picked up five ground balls.
Becca Wallace made three saves in net.
The Pacers started the game by netting the first two goals for an early lead. Risley put the Knights on the board five minutes into the game and Neumann went on to score nine straight over 20 minutes for a 9-2 lead. The teams traded goals with four minutes remaining and Neumann took a 10-3 lead into halftime.
Risley started the scoring for the Knights again in the second half. Neumann built up a 15-4 advantage in the first seven minutes. Marywood then netted four straight goals for a 15-8 game. The teams again traded goals before the Knights finished the game, scoring four goals in the final four minutes for the 20-9 win.
Neumann (13-4) advances to its fourth straight CSAC Championship game against Cabrini on Saturday. The Knights and the Cavaliers will face-off in Radnor, Pa. at a time TBD.
