ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University volleyball team defeated Immaculata University in straight sets, 3-0, on Thursday evening in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action. Set scores were 25-20, 25-18 and 25-21.
Hayley Glah led the Knights with 13 kills.
Rachael Hoffman tallied 11 kills, with just one error, for a hitting percentage of .476.
Rachel Cray handed out 38 assists.
Nikki Collevechio dished out 21 digs and Glah added 14.
The teams battled in every set. Down 18-15, the Knights went on an eight point run, including three kills by
Jessica Winn and two by Glah, for a 23-18 advantage. A kill by
Shayne Sullivan put Neumann a point away from winning the first set before the Knights won 25-20.
In set two, with
Bianca Harbold serving, the Knights took a 6-5 score and increased their lead to 10-5. Neumann continued to increase its lead and built a 19-10 advantage before Immaculata would score six straight points for a 19-16 game. The Knights answered right back and a kill by Hoffman sealed the second set win, 25-18.
The third set was another battle and the teams were knotted at 21 down the stretch. Cray stepped up to the service line and served the Knights to the win with Winn tallying the match-winning kill.
Neumann (4-8, 1-1 CSAC) will host a tri-match on Saturday with Frostburg State and Lebanon Valley. Action gets underway at 11:00 AM.
