ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University field hockey team dropped a back and forth Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) battle to Immaculata University 4-3 on a rainy Wednesday afternoon.
Chelsea Kulesza scored twice for the Knights.
Caitlyn Johnson made two saves in net. Neumann outshot Immaculata 21-8 overall and 13-6 on net. Kulesza led the team with four shots while
Jessica Harrell tallied three.
Neumann held the pace of the game to start, getting the first five shots of the game. However, Immaculata would net two goals in a three minute span to take a quick 2-0 lead. In the 27
th minute, the Knights had a penalty corner, in which
Madison Brown scored off an assist from
Colleen Hoy. The Mighty Macs held the 2-1 lead at halftime.
The Knights quickly tied the game at two 3:28 into the second half. Kulesza tallied her first goal of the game off a pass from
Becky Guinto. Five minutes later, Kulesza scored her second goal to give Neumann a 3-2 lead. In the 57
th minute, Immaculata tied the game at three. With time winding town, the Mighty Macs broke the tie with 6:19 left in regulation. Neumann had two shots go just wide as it tried to tie the game in the final moments.
Neumann (4-5, 0-2 CSAC) will travel to Keystone on Saturday to continue CSAC action beginning at 1:00 PM.
