BALTIMORE, Md. – The Neumann University women's volleyball team defeated Notre Dame of Maryland University in straight sets, 3-0, on Wednesday evening. Set scores were 28-26, 25-15 and 25-19.
Hayley Glah led the Knights with 11 kills and a hitting percentage of .276.
Rachel Cray handed out 28 assists
Nikki Collevechio anchored the defense with 16 digs. Glah had 14 and Cray added 11.
The first set was a battle back and forth with each team taking an advantage throughout. When the Gators were up by one point, 25-24,
Shayne Sullivan tallied a kill to tie the game at 25. The Knights were able to take the first set 28-26.
In set two, the Gators took an early 6-2 lead. While Cray was serving, the Knights strung together 11 straight points to take a 13-6 advantage. A kill by Cray sealed the set two win, 25-15.
The third set started in a back and forth battle again. With Notre Dame leading 6-4, Neumann scored seven consecutive points to take an 11-6 lead. The Knights were able to keep the Gators at bay for the rest of the set and a kill by Sullivan sealed the set and the match win, 25-19.
Neumann (6-10, 2-1 CSAC) will participate in the Roadrunner Invitational at Ramapo College on Saturday. The Knights will face Alfred State and St. Joseph's (L.I.) at 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM, respectively.
