LA VERNE, Calif. – The Neumann University volleyball team dropped a pair of games at day two of the Pacific Coast Classic on Saturday afternoon. The Knights fell in straight sets to Chapman College and the University of La Verne.
In the first match against Chapman, the set scores were 25-20, 25-19, 25-19.
Melanie Malseed notched seven kills for the Knights. Racheal Hoffman tallied six.
Rachel Cray handed out 25 assists.
Nikki Collevechio had 16 digs and
Hayley Glah added 10.
The Knights stayed close in the first set and was down just 20-19. Chapman sealed the first set win by scoring five of the next six points.
The Panthers scored the first six points to open the second set. The Knights hung around for the second set, but the Panthers were able to complete the three set sweep.
Against La Verne, set scores were 25-14, 25-15, 25-13. Hoffmann added another six kills for the Knights. Cray dished out 13 assists. Collevechio tallied 13 digs while Glah added 11.
The three sets mirrored one another as each time the Knights were able to get a point, the Leopards were able to get a few more.
Neumann (1-3) will come back east and will head to Eastern on Saturday. The Knights will face Johns Hopkins at 12:00 PM and then Eastern at 2:00 PM.
