Late Goal Downs Knights at Mighty Macs

IMMACULATA, Pa. – The Neumann University field hockey team battled, but dropped a 4-3 Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) at Immaculata University on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Knights struck first as Alexis Damask scored in the 18th minute. Molly Fruit had the assist. The Mighty Macs tied the game in the 23rd minute and the teams went into halftime knotted at one.
 
Immaculata struck quickly in the second half and scored two goals in the first 10 minutes to take a 3-1 lead. Damask scored her second goal of the game in the 49th minute to bring Neumann to within one. Cheyenne Sovae-Beattie tallied the assist.
 
Skyler Lemma scored her first collegiate goal to tie the game off a pass from Danni Hall. With time winding down on the clock, the Mighty Macs would take back the lead with a goal with just over five minutes left in regulation. Sovae-Beattie had a shot in the final couple minutes to try and tie the game, but the ball would not find the back of the net.
 
Mary Miller made four saves in net for the Knights. Damask and Hall each had a defensive save. The Knights edged the Mighty Macs in shots 14-13.
 
Neumann (2-13, 1-5 CSAC) will wrap up the regular season on Wednesday when it travels to Cedar Crest for a CSAC match-up.
