BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The Neumann University men's ice hockey team dropped its second consecutive road game to open the season by a score of 4-1 to host SUNY Brockport on Saturday evening.Matt Gibney was strong in goal for the Knights in the loss, making 33 saves on the night. Joe Mitchell notched Neumann's lone goal on the evening.

Things did not start as planned for Neumann on the night, as the team conceded a goal just 3:58 into the first frame. The Knights rebounded with several quality chances, but could not beat the Brockport net-minder. Shots for the first period finished 9-7 in favor of the Golden Eagles.

Brockport stepped up its pressure in the second period, outshooting the Knights by a count of 17-5 to take control of the game. The Golden Eagles doubled their lead at the 17:47 mark of the period and carried a 2-0 lead into the second intermission.

Neumann fought to get back into the game in the third and final period, but a pair of Brockport goals put the game out of reach. Mitchell tallied with just under three minutes left to play to ruin the shutout, but the Golden Eagles skated away with the 4-1 win. Shots for the game finished 37-22 in favor of Brockport.

Neumann (0-2) returns to Aston for its home opener next Friday, November 3^rd versus Chatham University. Puck-drop is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
