ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Neumann University women's volleyball team flew past Cedar Crest College 3-0 in a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) match on Thursday evening. Set scores were 25-10, 25-11 and 25-19.
Melanie Malseed led the Knights with 14 kills and a .464 hitting percentage.
Shayne Sullivan hit .440 and added 13 kills.
Carlee Herrin handed out 38 assists.
Bianca Harbold and Malseed each tallied 10 digs.
Neumann took the first two sets with ease. With the score 14-10 in set one, Sullivan started 10 straight points for Neumann and
Hayley Glah served the Knights to a 25-10 win, including three service aces. Sullivan sealed the first set with a kill.
Glah continued her service dominance in the second set, leading Neumann to an early 7-1 lead.
The third and final set was a little closer. Cedar Crest took an early 7-3 lead, but Neumann did not let up. The teams went back and forth and were tied at 17 late in the set. A kill by
Rachael Hoffman and a service ace by
Kirsten Longueira put the Knights up by a 19-17 score.
Bridget Lozier capped the match with a kill and a 25-19 win.
Neumann (10-15, 5-1 CSAC) will head to Swarthmore this weekend for the Garnet Quad. The Knights will open play against Eastern on Friday night at 5:00 PM.
