ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men's basketball team had five players score in double-digits in an 89-67 win over Eastern University on Saturday evening.
Tyaire Hudson led the way with 22 points.
Raquan Brown-Johnson netted 16 points and went 5-for-6 from the line.
Aaron Johnson-Chavis netted 13 points,
Kawaun Chavis had 12 and Isiah Wilmore added 10.
The teams started the game evenly matches, battling back and forth with five lead changes and three tied scores. With 7:44 left in the half, and Neumann holding a 26-23 advantage, the Knights scored the next 11 points over a four minute span for a 37-23 score. The Eagles broke the steak with a three-pointer, but Wilmore answered right back with a three of his own. Neumann took a 10 point lead, 42-32, into halftime.
The Knights continued to keep the pressure on in the second half. With the score 63-50, Neumann scored the next eight points, including six by Hudson, for a 71-50 lead. The Eagles would try and chip their way back into the game, scoring eight of the next 11 points for a 73-58 score, but that's as close as they would get. The Knights built up a lead as large as 24.
Neumann (2-0) will open conference action on Tuesday when it hosts Marywood. Action gets underway at 7:00 PM in the Mirenda Center.
