Men’s Basketball Falls to Giants on the Road

LA PLUME, Pa. – The Neumann University men's basketball team fell to Keystone College 91-80 on Saturday afternoon in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action.
 
Five Knights scored in double-figures, led by Tyaire Hudson with 19. Billy Cassidy netted 14 points, including four baskets from beyond the arc. Raquan Brown-Johnson and Jordan Collins each netted 13 points while Aaron Johnson-Chavis added 12 points and 10 rebounds.
 
Each team had its share of runs in the first half. The Giants scored eight of the first 10 points. The Knights then scored seven straight points to take a 9-8 lead on a layup by Hudson. Keystone hit a three-pointer before Neumann scored the next six points for a 15-11 game after the first five minutes.
 
The Knights built up a seven point lead, 20-13, capped by a three-pointer by Hudson. The Giants answered with the next seven points to knot the game at 20 midway through the half. The teams traded baskets over the next five minutes and remained tied, this time at 26. Neumann then went on a 9-3 run to take a 35-29 lead. Keystone netted the next six points to tie the game again. Cassidy netted two of his three-pointers in the final two minutes of the half and the Knights took a 41-39 lead into halftime.
The first part of the second half remained close and with 11:53 on the clock, the Giants held a one point lead, 57-56. Over the next four minutes, Keystone went on a 14-3 run to take control of the game, 71-59. After the Knights broke the run, the teams remained even over the final six minutes of regulation. Neumann could not get one last run before the buzzer and fell short.
 
Neumann (4-2, 2-1 CSAC) will head to Scranton on Monday, for the first of three non-conference games, Tip-off is slated for 7:00 PM.
