PHOENIXVILLE, Pa. – The Neumann University men's basketball team wrapped up the 2017 portion of its season with a 79-61 win at the University of Valley Forge on Friday evening.
Billy Cassidy hit six three-pointers en route to 20 points in the game.
Tyaire Hudson netted 19 points.
Aaron Johnson-Chavis notched a double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds.
Isaiah Wilmore added 10 points off the bench.
Over the first seven minutes of the game, the Knights outscored the Patriots 20-6 to jump out to the early lead. Both teams then went on a four minute scoreless drought before Johnson-Chavis added to Neumann's lead with a jumper. The Knights netted seven three's in the first 20 minutes, including five from Cassidy. Neumann would build its lead to as many as 24 in the first half and took a 42-21 lead into halftime.
The Knights built their lead up to 27, 51-24, early in the second half. With Neumann holding a 66-42 lead midway through the half, Valley Forge went on a 13-3 run over the next four minutes for a 69-55 score. The Pioneers would not get any closer and the Knights used the lead built up over the first 30 minutes of the game to come away with the win.
Neumann (7-2) is now off until after the holiday break. The Knights will get into the bulk of conference action when they get back, starting with Immaculata at home on January 3. Action gets underway at 8:00 PM.
