AUBURNDALE, Fla. – The Neumann University baseball team defeated Hanover College 11-7 on day two in Florida.
James Angellella picked up the win, going 2.1 innings in relief.
Bobby Sefick got the save, pitching the final 2.0 innings.
Grant Wallace started the game, going 4.2 innings. He allowed three runs, two earned, on five hits and struck out seven.
Evan Emerich went 3-for-5 with three RBI and two runs scored.
Jon DelValle was 3-for-5.
Chuck Trentler hit a three-run homerun in the sixth inning.
Spencer Young hit a solo shot in the eighth inning.
Eric Bergman had a double in the first and a single in the ninth to collect the 100
th hit of his career.
The Knights started the scoring in the first inning. Bergman hit a double and came around to score on a sacrifice fly by
Cody MacNair. Neumann put three more runs on the board in the second inning, highlighted by a two-run double by Emerich.
After plating a run in the fourth and fifth, the Knights added three more runs in the sixth on the long ball by Trentler. Emerich opened the inning with a double. Bergman was then hit by a pitch to set up Trentler. Neumann added one more run in the seventh. Young capped the scoring with his solo homerun in the eighth.
Neumann (2-0) will face Waynesburg University tomorrow. First pitch is slated for 2:30 PM.
