GALLOWAY, N.J. – In its fifth consecutive road non-conference game to open the season, the Neumann University women's lacrosse team fell Thursday afternoon to Stockton University by a score of 19-6.
Shae Risley and
Kaitlyn Conrad each scored twice for Neumann in the loss, while
Brittany Cassidy and
Gina Dolente each added a tally of their own.
Gabby Curry got the start in net, making seven saves in goal.
In a game rescheduled from earlier in the week due to Tuesday's snowstorm, the Knights struggled out of the gate. Stockton notched the game's first seven goals in the opening fifteen minutes of play to jump out to a lead it would never relinquish. Risley and Conrad would each register goals midway through the half, but the Ospreys recorded five more goals of their own to head to halftime with a 12-2 lead.
Neumann played much better in the second half, but the Stockton lead proved too much to overcome. Dolente's first career collegiate goal highlighted a four goal second half from the Knights, but the Ospreys responded with seven second half scores to pull away with a 19-6 win.
Neumann (0-5) gets right back to game action with its home and conference opener versus Immaculata University on Saturday, March 18
th. Game-time is scheduled for 11:00 AM.
