ASTON, Pa. - The Neumann University women's lacrosse team fell in their first home game of the season by a score of 16-5 to Rowan University on a cold and windy Wednesday afternoon.
Kaitlyn Conrad and
Shae Risley each scored a pair of goals for the Knights in the loss.
Brittany Cassidy also scored for Neumann, who received 11 saves in goal from
Gabby Curry.
Â
Rowan jumped on the Knights early, striking just over a minute into the opening half to take an early lead. The game would remain that way until midway through the half, when the Profs used a four goal run to open up a 5-0 lead. Conrad answered back with a pair of goals spaced a minute and a half apart to cut the deficit to three, but Rowan would outscore Neumann 4-1 in the final nine minutes of the half to take a 9-3 lead into halftime.
Â
Rowan would continue to control play in the second half. The Profs tallied six unanswered goals to begin the final frame and did not look back. Risley tried to get the Knights back into the game late with a pair of goals of her own, but Neumann would ultimately fall by a score of 16-5.
Â
Neumann (0-6) heads back to the road for its conference opener at Marywood University on Saturday, March 25th. The game is scheduled for 1:00 PM.
