Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Women's Lacrosse Downed in Conference Opener at Marywood

SCRANTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's lacrosse team opened the conference portion of its schedule with a 16-7 loss on the road at Marywood University.

Shae Risley was the offensive catalyst for Neumann, scoring three goals and picking up three ground balls in the loss. Diana Caicedo, Brittany Cassidy, Kaitlyn Conrad and Taylor Klever also scored for Neumann, who received 14 saves in goal from Gabby Curry.

The Knights fell into a hole early, conceding the game's first four goals to fall behind 4-0 more than halfway through the opening half. Caicedo was able to get one goal back at the 11:50 mark of the first frame, but four more unanswered tallies from the Pacers followed to put Neumann down 8-1 late in the half. Conrad found the back of the net late to make it 8-2 heading to halftime.

Marywood continued to control play early in the second half, notching the first three goals to further widen its lead. The Knights would respond with three unanswered goals of their own midway through the half, but another four goal Pacer run would end Neumann's momentum along with any hope of a comeback on the day. Risley tallied two goals in the final five minutes of play, but it wasn't enough as the Knights fell by a score of 16-7.

Neumann (0-7) gets back on the field next Tuesday, March 28th as it heads to Baltimore, Md. for a conference matchup with Notre Dame of Maryland University. Game-time is scheduled for 4:00 PM.
