ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University baseball team dropped its first two Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) games on Saturday afternoon to Gwynedd Mercy University. Games scores were 16-2 and 10-4.
In the first game, the Griffins struck for six runs in the top of the second and seven in the top of the third for a 13-0 lead.
The Knights got on the board in the bottom of the third as
Spencer Young led off with a double. He came around to score on a sacrifice fly by
Eric Bergman.
Gwynedd Mercy added three more runs in the top of the fourth. Neumann plated its second run in the fifth inning as
Chuck Trentler reached on an error and scored on a wild pitch.
Zach Cooney started the game and went 1.2 innings, allowing six runs on five hits in the loss.
Bobby Sefick,
Taylor Reynolds and
Matt Kelty all came out of the pen.
Josh Cruz went 2.1 scoreless innings and allowed just one hit.
Ed Senlick pitched the ninth inning.
In game two, Gwynedd Mercy scored three unearned runs in the top of the second to open scoring. The Griffins then added a run in the third on home run.
Trailing 6-0, Bergman knocked in Trentler in the fifth inning. Bergman then hit a three-run homerun in the seventh inning, knocking in all of the Knights' runs in the game.
Patrick Graham started the game on the mound and went 5.0 innings. He allowed six runs, three earned, on six hits.

Zach Youngberg finished out the game out of the bullpen.
Neumann (4-7, 0-2 CSAC) and Gwynedd Mercy will complete the season series tomorrow afternoon. First pitch is slated for 1:00 PM.
