Women's Lacrosse Picks Up First Win of the Season

BALTIMORE, Md. - The Neumann University women's lacrosse team picked up its first win of the season Wednesday afternoon, using a total team effort to take down Notre Dame of Maryland University by a score of 19-9.

Neumann's offense came alive in the win, with four Knights registering at least three goals. Kaitlyn Conrad led the way for the Knights, tallying nine points on six goals and three assists. Diana Caicedo and Shae Risley each scored four times, while Taylor Klever added three goals of her own. Gabby Curry and Becca Wallace split time in goal, combining for seven saves in the win.

The Knights jumped out to an early lead in the conference matchup and never looked back. Neumann scored nine of the game's first ten goals, cruising to halftime with a 12-4 lead. Conrad and Risley were the offensive sparkplugs for the Knights in the opening frame, each scoring three times. The pair of goal scorers got some help from Caicedo, who recorded three first half assists.

Neumann continued to control play in the second half. Conrad and Caicedo continued their strong play, each notching two goals apiece in the half as the Knights pulled away to the 19-9 win. For the game, Neumann also doubled-up Notre Dame in shots, outshooting the Gators by a count of 38-19.

Neumann (1-7, 1-1 CSAC) is right back in action tomorrow, March 30th for a non-conference matchup versus Rutgers University- Camden. Game-time is scheduled for 4:00 PM.
