Bats Come Alive in Win Over Stockton

GALLOWAY, N.J. – The Neumann University baseball team picked up an 11-4 win at Stockton University on Wednesday afternoon.
 
Neumann's bats came alive in the game, as it belted out 16 hits. Evan Emerich, Duncan Balara and Spencer Young each had three hits. Young added three RBI and Emerich scored three runs.
 
Matt Kelty started the game and went 6.0 innings on the mound for his first collegiate win. He allowed three runs, two earned, on four hits and struck out two. Kutter Endy went 2.0 innings and Jerome Cevetello pitched a scoreless ninth inning.
 
The Ospreys scored first with an unearned run in the second inning. The Knights answered in the top of the third. Sam Banks walked to start the inning. Emerich followed with a single. Chuck Trentler knocked in Banks with a single. Cody MacNair hit an RBI single to score Emerich and give Neumann a 2-1 lead.
 
Neumann took advantage of a Stockton error in the fourth inning and scored five runs. Balara and Curt Yenchik led off with back-to-back singles. Young followed with a double to score Balara. Yenchik came around to score as Banks reached on an error. Emerich followed with a single to load the bases. With two outs, Bergman hit a two-run single to score Banks and Emerich. Bergman came around to score on a single by Kyle Weller.
 
The Knights scored three more unearned runs in the sixth inning and one more in the seventh. Young highlighted the sixth with a two-run single to score Bergman and Balara.
 
Neumann (6-7) will host Rowan tomorrow afternoon in non-conference action. First-pitch is slated for 3:30 PM.
