GLASSBORO, N.J. – The Neumann University baseball team fell late at Rowan University 8-7 on Wednesday afternoon in non-conference action.
Kyle Weller and
Cody MacNair each had three hits in the game.
Eric Bergman,
Duncan Balara and MacNair each knocked in a pair of runs.
Anthony Stricker started the game and pitched the first 3.0 innings. He allowed two runs on three hits and struck out four.
Taylor Reynolds went 3.2 innings and allowed three runs on five hits and struck out three.
Zach Youngberg pitched the final out of the seventh inning.
James Angellella pitched the eighth inning and started the ninth.
Jerome Cevetello took the loss, coming out of the pen in the ninth inning.
The Profs struck first, plating two runs in the third inning. The Knights got on the board in the top of the fourth inning. Weller led the inning off with a double and came around to score on a two-out single by Balara. Rowan got back the run in the bottom of the fourth for a 3-1 game.
Neumann took advantage of some walks, key hits and Rowan errors in the sixth inning to score six runs. MacNair led the inning off with a solo homerun. With one out,
Jon DelValle and
Curt Yenchik drew back-to-back walks. Balara followed with an RBI single to tie the game at three.
With two outs, Bergman hit a two-run single.
Evan Emerich kept the inning going when he reached on an error. MacNair came to the plate for the second time in the inning and hit an RBI single for a 7-3 Neumann lead.
Rowan scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh for a 7-5 game. The Profs scored two earned runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to tie the game. Rowan then took advantage of a Neumann error to score the game-winning run.
Neumann (3-5) heads to Albright tomorrow, moved up from Friday to try and avoid the incoming winter weather. First pitch remains at 3:00 PM.
