READING, Pa. – The Neumann University baseball team used another big sixth inning to defeat Albright College 9-5 on Thursday afternoon.
Eric Bergman went 3-for-5 from the plate and scored three runs.
Joey Pedorenko and
Kyle Weller each had a pair of RBI.
Patrick Graham started the game and picked up the win, going 5.0 innings. He allowed three runs on six hits and struck out eight.
Matt Kelty went the next two innings and allowed a run and one hit.
Bobby Sefick pitched a scoreless eighth inning.
Kutter Endy wrapped up the win, allowing an unearned run in the ninth inning.
With one out in the top of the first, Bergman and
Evan Emerich hit back-to-back singles. With two outs, Weller knocked in both runners with a single. Albright answered with a two-run homerun in the bottom of the first inning.
The Lions took a 3-2 lead with a single run in the bottom of the second inning. Bergman led the top of the third off with a single. He came around to score on a double by Pedorenko.
Nick Panissidi reached base on a wild pitch after striking out to lead off the fourth inning. He came around to score on a sacrifice fly by
Chuck Trentler as Neumann took a 4-3 lead.
The Knights batted around in the sixth inning as they plated five runs. Balara led off with a single. He stole second base and scored on an RBI single by
Spencer Young. Pedorenko provided the big knock of the inning, scoring Trentler and Bergman with a double.
Neumann (4-5) is slated to host SUNY-Cortland on Saturday for a doubleheader beginning at 1:00 PM.
