ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University baseball team fell to Widener University 2-0 on Tuesday afternoon in non-conference action.
Both of the Pride's runs were unearned, coming in the first and second inning.
Matt Kelty started the game and went 5.0 innings. He allowed just the two unearned runs on four hits and struck out four.
Josh Cruz went 3.0 innings out of the pen and allowed just one hit.
Anthony Stricker pitched the ninth inning.
With two outs in the bottom of the ninth,
Chuck Trentler walked to bring the potential tying run to the plate, but
Eric Bergman flew out to center field to end the game. The Knights were held to just three hits in the game, two coming in the third inning and the other in the fourth inning.
Neumann (11-11) is right back on the field tomorrow as it hosts Arcadia. First pitch is slate for 3:30 PM.
