Knights Plate 18 Run in Season Series Sweep of Cavaliers

RADNOR, Pa. – The Neumann University baseball team completed the season series sweep of Cabrini University on Tuesday afternoon with an 18-1 win in a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) single game.
 
Curt Yenchik went 3-for-5 in the game with a grand slam, seven RBI and scored three runs. Evan Emerich and Eric Bergman also scored three runs each.
 
Neumann didn't waste any time and scored six runs in the top of the first inning as 10 batter made it to the plate and all nine hitters contributed to the inning. Emerich and Spencer Young led off the game with back-to-back walks. Cody MacNair followed with a single to load the bases. Emerich scored on a sacrifice fly by Chuck Trentler. Bergman reached on an error to reload the bases. Duncan Balara singled to knock in Young. Yenchik hit a two-run single. Nick Panissidi knocked an RBI double and Matt McLaughlin hit a sacrifice fly.
 
The Cavaliers responded with a run in the bottom of the first, but that was all they would get in the nine inning.
 
The Knights added two more runs in the third inning on a two-run double by Emerich. Yenchik hit his grand slam in the fourth inning, a shot to straight-away center field. Neumann plated one run in the fifth, four in the seventh and capped the scoring with a run in the eighth inning.
 
Grant Wallace started the game and went 4.0 innings. He allowed four hits and struck out four. Anthony Stricker picked up the win out of the pen, going 2.0 innings and striking out three. Josh Cruz, Bobby Sefick and Zach Cooney all went an inning in the win.
 
Neumann (14-12, 9-3 CSAC) will head to Montclair State tomorrow afternoon for a single non-conference contest. First pitch is slate for 3:30 PM.
