Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Women's Lacrosse Cruises Past Cyclones

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. - Using momentum from last week's thrilling overtime win over Immaculata University, the Neumann University women's lacrosse team picked up its seventh win in its last eight games with a comfortable 20-3 victory on the road at Centenary University.

Kaitlyn Conrad continued her sensational recent play, leading the team with six goals and four draw controls. With her sixth goal of the game, the sophomore reached the 100 point plateau of her career. Shae Risley and Diana Caicedo were also fantastic offensively for the Knights in the win, while goalie Gabby Curry picked up 13 saves in net.

Neumann came out firing to start the game, scoring twice in the opening four minutes on goals from Conrad and Meghan McKewen to take the early lead. Centenary would fight back though and keep the game close in the first half of the opening session. After the early pair of goals, the two teams would each find the back of the net three times in the next seven minutes to make it 5-3 Neumann with 19:30 left to play in the first half.

From there, the Knights would take a stranglehold of the game. Neumann would score the final nine goals of the first frame to take a commanding 14-3 lead into halftime. Four different Knights accounted for the goals late in the half, including four tallies from Conrad, two goals apiece from Risley and Caicedo, and one goal from Courtney Petrucelli.

The second half was more of the same for Neumann, as the Knights continued to dominate play. Using solid defense and excellent goaltending from Curry, Neumann held Centenary without a second half goal. The Knights would also tack on six more tallies to head home with the convincing 20-3 win.

Neumann (7-8, 6-2 CSAC) returns home to take on CSAC rival Cedar Crest College on Saturday, April 22nd at 11:00 AM. Prior to the game, the team will honor its four seniors for all they have given to the program over the past four seasons.
