Women's Lacrosse Tops Falcons on Senior Day

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's lacrosse team celebrated senior day with a resounding 16-4 win over conference rival Cedar Crest College on Saturday afternoon.

The story of the day for the Knights was their stellar senior class of Shae Risley, Taylor Klever, Diana Caicedo and Becca Wallace, who combined for 14 points in the senior day win. Risley led the group with six goals and an assist, while Klever (3 goals) and Caicedo (2 goals, 1 assist) also provided a boost on offense. Wallace was excellent in goal and on the field, picking up the win in net (3 saves), while also registering a second half assist as a field player. Sophomore Kaitlyn Conrad also chipped in with two goals and two assists in the win.

Neumann jumped all over Cedar Crest from the opening whistle. Led by three early goals from Risley and a pair of goals from both Klever and Conrad, the Knights scored the first ten goals of the game to lead 10-0 at the 11:46 mark of the opening half. The Falcons got one back at the 8:46 mark, but Neumann would tally the final three goals of the half to take a commanding 13-1 lead into halftime.

The Knights began the second stanza just as they left off in the first half. Risley and Klever each scored in the first ten minutes of the second frame to boost the lead to 15-1 with just over 20 minutes left to play. Cedar Crest would score three times in the final period of play, but Risley's sixth goal of the game off an assist from Wallace put an exclamation point on the convincing senior day win.

With the win, Neumann (8-8, 7-2 CSAC) has finished its regular season CSAC schedule. The Knights will finish third in the conference and wait for other results around the league to see who they will play in the first round next Saturday. The Knights will have one more non-conference tune-up before the playoffs next weekend, as they will take on Moravian College at home on Wednesday, April 26th. Game-time is scheduled for 4:00 PM.
