IMMACULATA, Pa. – The Neumann University baseball team dropped a 9-6 decision in the rubber match at Immaculata University on Monday afternoon in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action.
Chuck Trentler went 3-for-4 and scored two runs.
Eric Bergman knocked in four runs, including a three-run homerun.
Patrick Graham started the game and went 3.1 innings in the loss.
Josh Cruz went the next two innings and
Zach Cooney finished out the game with 2.1 innings.
Immaculata struck first and took an 8-0 lead after five innings. The Mighty Macs plates six runs in the fourth inning.
Neumann got on the board with three runs in the top of the sixth inning. With two outs,
Spencer Young walked, followed by a single by
Cody MacNair. Trentler knocked in Young with an RBI single. Bergman followed with an RBI single to score MacNair. Trentler scored on an error.
The Mighty Macs put one more run on the board for a 9-3 lead after seven innings.
In the top of the eighth inning, again with two outs, MacNair hit a double down the right line. Trentler followed with a single to set up the home run by Bergman to right field for a 9-6 game.
The Knights got their leadoff man on base in the ninth inning, but the next three batters got out and the comeback bid fell just short.
Neumann (16-14, 10-5 CSAC) will head to Penn State Berks tomorrow afternoon for non-conference action beginning at 3:30 PM.
