Women's Lacrosse Takes Down Giants

ASTON, Pa. - The Neumann University women's lacrosse team scored its fourth consecutive victory on Wednesday afternoon, picking up a 17-8 win over Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) rival Keystone College.

Shae Risley carried the Knights on the day, scoring a game high four goals and three assists for seven points on the afternoon. Kaitlyn Conrad and Taylor Klever chipped in with three goals apiece, while Brittany Cassidy tallied twice and picked four ground balls. Goalie Gabby Curry picked up her fourth consecutive win in goal, making 17 saves in the win.

The first half started slowly for the Knights as they conceded four goals in the first 14 minutes of play to trail early. The quick deficit served as an early wake-up call for Neumann, who bounced back with two goals apiece from Conrad and Risley in the next 10 minutes get to tie the game up at 4-4 with 15:39 left in the opening half. From there the Knights took over control of the half. Neumann outscored Keystone by a count of 5-2 the remainder of the first frame to head to halftime with a 9-6 lead.

The Knights would continue to pull away in the second half using timely scoring and stingy defense. Using a four goal run to open the period, Neumann extended its lead to 13-6 at the 18:53 mark. Keystone retaliated with a goal of their own to stop the run with just over 18 minutes left to play, but goals by Conrad and Klever upped the lead to 15-7 late in the stanza. Keystone scored late to make it 15-8, but the Knights punctuated their win with a pair of goals from Risley and Alyssa Panei to claim the 17-8 victory.

Neumann (4-7, 3-1 CSAC) returns to action this Saturday, April 8th as it faces off against conference rival Gwynedd Mercy University. Game-time is scheduled for 3:00 PM.
