IMMACULATA, Pa. – The Neumann University baseball team opened Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action with a 10-2 win over Immaculata University on Wednesday afternoon.
Evan Emerich went 4-for-5 in the leadoff spot, scoring two runs.
Chuck Trentler knocked in three runs.
Matt McLaughlin went 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored.
Zach Youngberg started the game and went 8.2 strong innings. He allowed just two runs on six scattered hits. He struck out four.
Josh Cruz pitched a scoreless ninth inning.
Neumann didn't waste any time and scored three runs in the first inning. Emerich lead off the game with a single. He stole second and scored on a double by
Eric Bergman. Bergman then scored on a single by
Cody MacNair. MacNair reached third on a wild pitch and then scored as the Mighty Macs catcher threw the ball down the left field line.
The Knights kept going in the second inning and scored three more runs.
Nick Panissidi led off with a solo homerun. McLaughlin and Emerich followed with back-to-back singles. Bergman reached on a fielder's choice. Trentler hit a two-run double for the 6-0 score.

Kyle Weller started the third inning with back-to-back singles. Young scored on a sacrifice fly by Panissidi. Weller scored on a single by McLaughlin.
The Mighty Macs scored their only two runs on a homerun in the bottom of the third for an 8-2 game.
Emerich singled and scored on a single by Trentler in the sixth inning. McLaughlin singled and scored on a sacrifice fly by Bergman in the eighth inning for the 10-2 final.
Neumann (21-16) will face Keystone on Friday at 11:00 AM. The Giants defeated Gwynedd Mercy 12-5 in the other first round game on Wednesday. The winner of the Knights/Giants game will advance straight to the CSAC Championship game on Sunday.
