Baseball Set for CSAC Postseason Tournament

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University baseball team is the No. 3 seed in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) postseason.
 
Keystone College is the No. 1 seed after going 17-4 in CSAC action this season. Immaculata is the No. 2 seed with a 16-5 record. The Knights wrapped up conference action with a 14-7 record while Gwynedd Mercy secured the fourth seed with a 13-8 CSAC record.
 
First round action of the double-elimination tournament gets underway on Wednesday at the campus of the top two seeds. Keystone will host Gwynedd while Neumann travels to Immaculata. Both games are slated to get underway at 3:00 PM.
 
After Wednesday's games, all four teams will head to PNC Field in Moosic, Pa. for the remaining games of the tournament. The field is the home of the Scranton Wilkes-Barre Railriders, the triple A affiliate of the New York Yankees.
 
Action Friday will begin with the two winners on Wednesday playing at 11:00 AM. The two teams that lost on Wednesday will play at 3:00 PM in the first elimination game. The final game on Friday starts at 7:00 PM with the winner of the 3:00 PM game taking on the loser of the 11:00 AM game. This is also an elimination game with the winner moving on to the Championship game on Sunday.

The championship series starts at noon on Saturday, with an if necessary game being played at 3:00 PM
 
Neumann went 1-2 against the other three teams in the conference tournament during the regular season. The Knights finished the regular season 20-16 overall.
 
The Knights are being led by junior Cody MacNair at the plate this season. He is batting .390 this season in 35 contests. He has a team-high 53 hits, including 16 doubles. The junior has knocked in 30 runs while scoring 23. He has also hit three homeruns.
  
Eric Bergman has also started all 36 contests this season. He is batting .299 with 43 hits, including eight doubles and four homeruns. The senior has 37 RBI and scored 31 runs. The right fielder has not committed an error this season. Evan Emerich is hitting .333 in 35 contests. He is second on the team with 49 hits, including nine doubles, a triple and four homeruns. The senior has scored 32 runs while knocking in 25. He is also a perfect 11-for-11 in stolen bases.
 
Chuck Trentler is one of two Knights to start in all 36 contests this season. He is batting .297 with 38 hits, including nine doubles, three triples and four homeruns. The senior has scored 34 runs while knocking in 29. Duncan Balara has started 30 contests this season and is batting .333. He has 37 hits with five doubles and four homeruns. He has scored 29 runs while knocking in 22.

On the mound, Zach Youngberg has a 2.01 ERA so far this season. In a team-high 49.1 innings pitched, the senior has a 3-1 overall record while adding two saves. He has also struck out 26 batters. Youngberg was part of a combined no-hitter earlier this season over Salisbury, 6-1, with Zach Cooney. Cooney is 2-2 this season in 37.2 innings 12 appearances. The junior has struck out a team high 35 batters. Sophomore Grant Wallace is 3-2 this season in nine appearances. In 41.1 innings, Wallace has struck out 33 batters.
