ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's volleyball team went 1-1 at the first day of the Knights Invitational. The Knights started the afternoon off with a 3-1 win over Ursinus College. Neumann then fell to Salisbury 3-0.
Neumann took the first two sets against Ursinus, 25-18, 25-15. The Bears rallied back for a 25-21 win in set three to force a fourth set. The Knights took the match with a 25-17 win in set four.
Melanie Malseed led Neumann with 12 kills in the match and a .321 hitting percentage.
Rachael Hoffman had nine kills and a .474 hitting percentage.
Carlee Herrin handed out 34 assists.
Bianca Harbold tallied 19 digs. Malseed and Herrin each added 12.
Hayley Glah notched four service aces.
Against Salisbury, the Seagulls won the sets by 25-18, 25-21 and 25-14 score. Herrin dished out 23 assists. Glah hit .333 with six kills. Harbold tallied 13 digs while Malseed added 12.
Action continues tomorrow as Neumann (2-8) will face Moravian at 10:00 AM. The Knights' second match will be determined after the results of the 12:00 PM match and will be at either 2:00 PM or 4:00 PM.
