NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Neumann University women's volleyball team dropped at pair of matches at the Captains Classic at Christopher Newport University on Saturday.
Melanie Malseed and 
Rachel Cray were named to the All-Tournament team.
 
In the first match, the Knight fell to host Christopher Newport 3-0 (25-14, 25-21, 25-13). Malseed tallied eight kills and 11 digs in the match. Cray handed out 17 assists. 
Bianca Harbold notched 14 digs.
 
In the final match of the weekend, Neumann dropped a 3-0 decision to Meredith (25-20, 26-24, 25-15). Malseed and 
Shayne Sullivan each notched eight kills in the match. Cray dished out 27 assists. Harbold tallied 15 digs, Cray added 12 and Malseed had 11.
 
The Knights battled in the second set and took an early 6-3 lead. The Angles tied the set at 11. The teams went back and forth and were tied again at 23 late in the set. A kill by Malseed put Neumann up 24-23. Meredith took a timeout and came out to score the next three points for the 26-24 win.
 
Neumann (1-3) will head to Muhlenberg College next weekend for the Buttermaker Tournament. The Knights will play two matches on Friday and two on Saturday.
