ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's volleyball team defeated Rosemont College in straight sets, 3-0, on Wednesday evening to open Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action. Set scores were 25-7, 25-11, 25-18.
Shayne Sullivan led the Knights with 14 kills and a .632 hitting percentage.
Bridget Lozier added 10 kills with a .750 hitting percentage.
Carlee Herrin handed out 36 assists. The team tallied 20 service aces in het match, led by
Hayley Glah with seven. Lozier tallied five and
Melanie Malseed added four.
Glah tallied four of her service aces early in the first set to put the Knights up 12-2 and cruise to the 25-7 win. Serves by Malseed took Neumann from a 12-7 lead to a 17-7 advantage in set two.
The Ravens kept pace to start the third set. With the score knotted at 13, Malseed served the Knights to a 15-13 advantage. After a side out, Lozier notched two of her service aces for a 19-14 lead. With the score 24-15, Rosemont rallied off three straight points before Sullivan notched the match-winning kill for the 25-18 set win.
Neumann (4-9, 1-0 CSAC) heads to the Dutchmen Quad this weekend at Lebanon Valley. The Knights will face Frostburg on Friday at 7:00 PM.
