ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Neumann University women's volleyball team went 1-1 at the second day of the Dutchmen Quad on Saturday. The Knights battled, but fell to host Lebanon Valley 3-1 in the first match of the day. Neumann rebounded and defeated Misericordia 3-0 in the second match.
Against Lebanon Valley, the Dutchmen took the first two sets, 25-19, 25-22. The Knights took set three 25-23. In the fourth set, the teams were tied at 24, but Lebanon Valley took the next two points for a 26-24 win and the match.
Rachael Hoffman led the Knights with 14 kills.
Melanie Malseed added 12 kills.
Carlee Herrin handed out 38 assists.
Kirsten Longueira tallied five service aces.
Bianca Harbold notched 15 digs while Malseed and Herrin each added 12.
In the final match of the weekend, Neumann defeated Misericordia in straight sets. After having to play a few extra points in set one, the Knights came away with the 28-26 win before taking sets two (25-19) and three (25-20) to win the match. Malseed hit .357 with 12 kills. Herrin dished out 33 assists. Harbold tallied 16 assists while Malseed added 12.
Neumann (5-11) will head to Gwynedd Mercy on Monday for a pair of conference matches. The Knights will face Clarks Summit at 6:00 PM and then Gwynedd Mercy at 8:00 PM.
