Women Fall Short in Season Opener at Ursinus

The Neumann Women's Rugby Team made their 2017-18 season debut against Ursinus College on Saturday, September 23. Taking the lead in the first half, the Knights made a valiant effort to try to prove themselves a worthy team. Comprised of only a few returning players, the Neumann ladies made it their goal not just to put up a fight, but to win.

The game opened with Neumann quickly scoring on some beautiful passing and rucking. The backs were able to get the ball out to Sharae Frazier who with some nice jukes resulted in Neumann's first try of the season. Neumann maintained a lead for a good portion of the first half, until fatigue, due to lower numbers, became too much.

With tries scored by Sharae Frazier, Ronnie Berry and Johneisha Kilson and conversion kicks by Lyssa Hawley and Kim Kasnic, the Neumann Knights ended their first game with a loss of 43-29. Hoping that, as the season progresses, they will only become stronger competitors, the women of the team are going into their next match against Swarthmore more determined than ever.
