On Saturday, October 20, the Neumann University Women's Rugby Club traveled to Ursinus College for their third league match of the season. Due to small numbers, the game was played in a 12v12 format as both teams dropped their flankers and a wing. Neumann put five points on the board first with a long run and try by
Kayla Jewell. Ursinus came back and quickly matched the try. At this point, Neumann appeared to overthink decisions on the field and Ursinus capitalized on that lack of confidence to score another try. Within minutes Neumann settled down, regained their confidence and began trading trys with Ursinus.
Sophomore
Elaisha Bagwell had two amazing runs to put ten points on the board and Junior scrum half
Jewell Cook made some moves to add another try.
Kayla Jewell used her stiff-arm and agility to score an additional two trys before the day was out. Although the Knights eventually lost to Ursinus with a score of 42-30, the team showed great progress and persistence. The players and coaches are excited to put everything together during the upcoming league playoffs on Saturday, October 27 at Franklin and Marshall.
