ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men's basketball team got back in the win column with a 97-64 win over Cairn University in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action on Thursday evening.
Raquan Brown-Johnson,
Aaron Johnson-Chavis and
Gemil Holbrook all netted 19 points in the win.
Billy Cassidy sank six three-pointers for 18 points and handed out five assists. The team hit 13 baskets from beyond the arc. Holbrook netted four while Brown-Chavis added three. Johnson-Chavis also added 11 rebounds for a double-double.
The first 10 minutes of the first half featured five lead changes and four tied scores. A three-pointer by Holbrook with 10:56 left on the clock put the Knights in the lead for good, 17-15. Neumann went on two good runs before halftime, taking a nine point lead, 32-23, with 5:20 remaining and a 16 point advantage, 45-29, with a minute left before the break. The Knights took a 45-31 after the first 20 minutes.
The Knights steadily increased its lead in the first four minutes of the second half and a three-pointer by Cassidy put the Knights up by 20, 55-35. Neumann would continue to build its lead and took a 30 point advantage, 69-39, on a layup with Johnson-Chavis midway through the half. Nine Knights contributed at least two points in the win as Neumann cruised the rests of regulation to the win.
Neumann (10-3, 5-2 CSAC) will host Centenary on Saturday in CSAC action. Tip-off is slated for 3:00 PM.
