RADNOR, Pa. – The Neumann University men's basketball team couldn't overcome the slow start and fell to Cabrini University 105-76 in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action on Wednesday evening.
Gemil Holbrook led Neumann with 21 points, including three from downtown.
Raquan Brown-Johnson tallied 20 points and
Aaron Johnson-Chavis added 10.
With the teams tied at nine, Cabrini scored the next nine points for an 18-9 lead. Neumann scored the next five points. Over the next five minutes, the Cavaliers built a 19 point advantage, 35-16. The Knights were stuck on 16 points for almost five minutes before Holbrook broke the scoring drought. Neumann went on a run of its own at the end of the half. The Knights scored the final 11 points of the half and chipped their way back to within four, 46-42.
The second half started like the first half. With 16 minutes left in regulation and a three point game, 56-53, the Cavaliers went on a 13-2 run for a 69-55 advantage. A three-pointer by Brown-Johnson broke the drought, but the Knights were not able to get their own run this time. Cabrini steadily built its lead throughout the rest of the half for the win.
Neumann (11-4, 6-3 CSAC) will look to get back into the win column on Saturday when it heads to Clarks Summit. The conference action is set to begin at 3:00 PM.
