IMMACULATA, Pa. – The Neumann University men's basketball team defeated Immaculata University 85-76 in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action on Wednesday evening.
Raquan Brown-Johnson led three Knights in double-digits with 21 points.
Tyaire Hudson tallied 18 points.
Aaron Johnson-Chavis had a double-double with 16 points and 15 rebounds while also adding six blocks.
Each team made runs in the first half, starting with the Mighty Macs opening the game scoring seven of the first nine points. The Knights then scored eight of the next 11 to tie the game at 10. With a two point lead, 18-16, Neumann netted six straight points to increase its lead to 24-16. The Knights would hold the largest lead, nine points, 28-19 with 6:27 on the clock. The Mighty Macs climbed back to within two, 30-28, five minutes before halftime. Each team took mini runs over the next five minutes, and Neumann took a 44-39 lead into halftime.
The Knights slowly worked their lead and midway through the second half held a 66-48 advantage. The Mighty Macs were not going to roll over and with 2:10 left in regulation Immaculata had chipped its way back to within four, 77-73. For the second game in a row, free throws down the stretch sealed the win for the Knights. Johnson-Chavis went 3-for-4, Hudson hit his two shots and
Sean Havink went 1-for-2 in the final 10 seconds.
Neumann (14-4, 9-3 CSAC) will host Keystone College on Saturday afternoon. The CSAC contest gets underway at 3:00 PM.
