Men’s Basketball Topples Giants in CSAC Win

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men's basketball toppled Keystone College 93-87 on Saturday afternoon in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action to even the season series to 1-1.
 
Tyaire Hudson led the Knights with 26 points. Raquan Brown-Johnson tallied 18 points. Aaron Johnson-Chavis had another double-double with 20 boards and 15 points. He also added four blocks.
 
The first half was close with each team taking mini runs to stay within a couple baskets of one another. Early on, the Knights built up an eight point lead, 23-15, on a three-pointer by Brown-Johnson. The Giants got back to within one, 26-25, with 8:34 left before halftime. Four minutes before halftime and Neumann holding a 36-35 lead, the Knights went on a 12-3 run, capped by a three-pointer by Sean Havink, to take a 48-38 lead into the break.
 
The Knights built a 16 point advantage, 70-54, on a layup by Hudson with 12:28 on the clock. The Giants then went on a 10-2 run to get back to within since digits, 64-72. Neumann would keep Keystone to a couple possession lead until 1:19 left in regulation when the Giants chipped their way back to within three points, 87-84. Johnson-Chavis went 3-for-4 from the line over the next 30 seconds to increase the lead back to six, 90-84.
 
The Giants, who hit 14 three-pointers in the game, came down the court and hit another one from downtown to get back to within three again, this time 90-87. Johnson-Chavis went 1-for-2 from the line for an important four point lead with 13 seconds on the clock. Hudson hit two free throws with two seconds remaining to seal the win.
 
Neumann (15-4, 10-3 CSAC) will head on the road for five of the final six games of the regular season. The Knights will begin at Marywood on Wednesday evening. The CSAC doubleheader with the women will begin at 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM in Scranton.
