CHESTER, Pa. – The Neumann University women's volleyball team opened homecoming with a 3-1 win at Widener University on Saturday morning.
The Knights won the first set 25-18. The Pride came back for a set two win 25-21. Neumann wrapped up the contest with 25-14 and 25-10 wins in the third and fourth sets.
Melanie Malseed led the Knights with 12 kills and a .273 hitting percentage.
Hayley Glah tallied 12 kills and
Kirsten Longueira added 10.
Alex Koppany handed out 20 assists and served four service aces.
Ariana Pena had four block solos and four block assists in the win.
ASTON, Pa. – The Knights then returned to campus to host Wesley College in an Atlantic East Conference contest. Neumann won 3-1.
Once against, the Knights picked up a win in the first set, 25-13. The Wolverines battled in the second set and took the 25-21 win. The teams battled back and forth in the final two sets, but Neumann was able to hang on in both for the win, 25-20 and 25-23.
Malseed tallied 18 kills, just one error, for a .415 hitting percentage.
Bre Hickey tallied 15 kills. Koppany handed out 28 assists and four service aces.
Rachel Cray dished out 23 assists.
Malseed also anchored the defense with 21 kills. Glah notched 13, Longueira 12 and Koppany added 10. Pena tallied five block assists.
Neumann (12-12, 3-1 Atlantic East) will travel to Gwynedd Mercy on Tuesday evening for more conference action beginning at 7:00 PM.
