ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's volleyball team opened Atlantic East Conference action with a 3-0 win over Marywood University on Tuesday evening. Junior
Melanie Malseed hit her 1,000
th career kill in the second set.
The Knights won the three sets by scores of 25-18, 25-22 and 25-15. To start the second set, Malseed tallied her eighth kill of the match and the 1,000
th of her career. She finished the match with 15 kills and nine digs.
Ariana Pena added 11 kills in the win.
Rachel Cray handed out 20 assists and
Alex Koppany added 18. Koppany also tallied three service aces, including the match-winner.
In the first set, the teams went back and forth and were tied at 14. The Knights ended the first set on an 11-4 run for a 25-18 set win.
The second set started off the same when Neumann slowly started to separate the score. The third set again started out with the teams going back and forth, and again the Knights pulled away midway through the set for the win.
Neumann (9-11, 1-0 Atlantic East) will continue conference action on Saturday when it travels to Immaculata. Action gets underway at 1:00 PM.
