CORTLAND, N.Y. – The Neumann University women's ice hockey team fell at SUNY Cortland 3-2 on Friday afternoon in the 2018-19 season opener.
Katelyn Brown and
Jordyn Cholish scored for the Knights.
Helen Cooney made 37 saves in net.
Brown scored the games' first goal at the 14:17 mark of the second period.
Steph Grundy and
Sid Squires (first collegiate point) tallied the assists. The Red Dragons scored two goals in a 30 second span three minutes to take a 2-1 lead. Cortland took the 2-1 lead into the second intermission.
Cholish scored 5:25 into the third period to tie the game at two.
Mollie Johnson and Grundy had the assists. The Red Dragons were able to take back the lead with 59 seconds left in regulation for the 3-2 win.
Neumann (0-1) and Cortland (1-0) will face-off again tomorrow afternoon. The puck is slated to drop at 12:00 PM.
