RADNOR, Pa. – The Neumann University field hockey team defeated Cabrini University 3-1 on Saturday afternoon in Atlantic East Conference action.
Bri Lagroteria opened the scoring in the 14
th minute as she redirected a shot from
Sam Picker. The Knights took the 1-0 lead into halftime.
The Knights went up 2-0 as
Chelsea Kulesza knocked the ball into the net off of a Cabrini stick in the 48
th minute. The Cavaliers cut the lead in half in the 54
th minute.
Colleen Hoy scored an insurance goal in the 56
th minute off an assist from Kulesza.
The Knights outshot the Cavaliers 15-8 overall and 7-5 on net.
Lizzie Yu made five saves in net for the win.
The win marks the first victory for the field hockey team over Cabrini since a 3-2 win on October 17, 2009 at home. On the road, Neumann defeated Cabrini for the 2008 conference championship on November 8 by a 3-0 score. During the regular season, the Knights defeated the Cavaliers 5-0 in Radnor on October 4, 2006.
Neumann (5-5, 2-0 Atlantic East) will head to Lancaster Bible on Tuesday for a non-conference match-up beginning at 7:00 PM.
