GALLOWAY, N.J. – The Neumann University men's basketball team fell to Farmingdale State College 73-62 on Saturday evening in its first game of the Stockton Classic.
Jordan Collins led four Knights in double-digits with 15 points.
Aaron Johnson-Chavis tallied 13 points.
Raquan Brown-Johnson and
Mark Perry each scored 10. Perry also grabbed 10 rebounds for a double-double.
After the teams opened the game by trading baskets, the Knights took an 8-8 game and went on a 9-1 run for a 17-9 advantage. The Rams chipped away and the teams tied again, this time at 26-all with 5:13 left before halftime. Collins hit a three-pointer as the final basket before the break, but Farmingdale took a slight 32-31 lead at halftime.
Waheem Lowman hit the first basket of the second half to put Knights back into the lead. The teams went back and forth for the first five minutes. With Neumann holding a 37-36 lead, Farmingdale 13-3 run to take a 49-10 advantage. The closest the Knights were able to get for the rest of regulation was five, 51-46, before the Rams built their lead up to double-digits to take the win.
Neumann (2-3) will face York College of Pennsylvania tomorrow afternoon in the consolation game beginning at 1:00 PM.
