ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's volleyball team defeated Brooklyn College 3-0 in a first round contest of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) 3-0 on Wednesday evening. Set scores were 25-19, 25-16 and 25-15.
Junior
Hayley Glah tallied her 1,000
th career dig half way through the second set. She finished the match with 13 digs to lead the Knights defensively.
Melanie Malseed added 12 kills and 11 digs.
Ariana Pena and
Rachael Hoffman each notched 10 digs.
Rachel Cray handed out 21 assists for the Knights while
Alex Koppany dished out 19.
In the first set, the Knights trailed early, but quickly tied the set at 13. The Knights then took the lead and held the Bulldogs at 19 to win the set 25-19. Neumann started the second set strong and kept its lead throughout for the 25-16 win. In the third set, the Knights took the advantage right away and held the Bulldogs back at 15 to win the set 25-15 and the match 3-0.
Neumann (17-16) travel to Cabrini for the rest of the tournament and will face host Cabrini in the first quarterfinal on Saturday morning. Action is slated to get underway at 11:00 AM.
