ASTON, Pa.- The Neumann University men's basketball team opened its season with a home non-conference win against Kean University, 75-66, on Thursday evening.
Waheem Lowman led the Knights in the victory with 17 points, six rebounds, and three assists.
Dewey Johnson added 15 points for Neumann.
Aaron Johnson-Chavis had a great game defensively with 13 rebounds and seven blocks as well as putting up 11 points.
Isaiah Wilmore followed with 10 points.
Neither team was able to find the net early on as the first points weren't't scored until three minutes into the game. The Knights then built up a 19-10 over the next eight minutes. Kean answered with a 10-1 run to tie the game at 20. The teams traded baskets before the Cougars ended the half on a 17-11 run to take a 37-31 lead into halftime.
Neumann came out strong in the second half and opened with an 11-0 run to take a 42-37 lead. With six minutes to play in regulation, the Knights expanded their lead by 12, 67-55. The Knights kept the Cougars at arms length for the come-from-behind win, 75-66.
Neumann (1-0) will participate in the Penn State Harrisburg Tip-Off Tournament this weekend. The Knights will start against Lebanon Valley on Saturday with a tip-off time of 3:00 PM.
